Privacy policy

This policy explains what Map Your Sector (“we”, “us”) collects when you use mapyoursector.com, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it. If you have a question, email hello@mapyoursector.com.

What we collect

If you sign in or list a business

• Your email address, so we can send you sign-in links and messages about your listing.
• Your listing: business name, website, logo, sector, category, city, description, X handle, what you offer and what you are looking for, and, if you choose to add them, a phone number, public email and booking link. Your listing is public. That is its purpose.
• Revenue, only if you add it. Revenue you type in is shown as self-reported. If you connect Stripe, you give us a read-only restricted key. We store it encrypted and use it once a day to add up your active subscriptions. We never see your customers' names, emails or card details, and you can disconnect it at any time from your dashboard.

If you ask for quotes

We collect your name, email, optional phone number, city and a description of the job. Businesses on the map near you can see that a request exists. Up to three of them can pay us to see your contact details and request so they can reach you. You agree to this sharing when you send the request, and it is the only reason we collect those details.

If you buy something

Payments are handled by Stripe. We receive your email, what you bought and whether the payment succeeded. We never see or store your full card number.

When you visit

We count how many times each business page is viewed per day, as a single number, so owners can see their page stats. We do not use advertising trackers or sell browsing data. We set cookies only to keep you signed in.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as described above, and with the services that run the site for us:

• Supabase stores our database and handles sign-in.
• Vercel hosts the website.
• Stripe processes payments and, if you connect it, provides your revenue totals.
• Resend sends our emails.
• Anthropic helps write sponsored posts about a business, using only its public listing.

We may also share information if the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and listing until you ask us to remove them. We keep quote requests for up to 12 months. Payment records are kept as long as tax law requires.

Your choices

You can edit your listing at any time from your dashboard. To see the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted, email hello@mapyoursector.com from the address you use with us. We will reply within 30 days. If you live in California or another place with its own privacy law, you have these rights under that law too, and we will not treat you differently for using them.

Children

Map Your Sector is a directory for businesses and is not meant for anyone under 16.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change affects how we share your information, we will email account holders first.
