Terms of service

These terms apply when you use mapyoursector.com (“Map Your Sector”, “we”, “us”). By creating a listing, buying anything, or sending a quote request, you agree to them. Questions go to hello@mapyoursector.com.

Listings

• You may list a business only if you own it or are allowed to represent it.
• Everything in your listing must be true, including revenue. Revenue you type in is shown as self-reported. Stripe-verified revenue is read from your own Stripe account.
• You give us permission to show your listing, logo and public details on the map, in search results, in our posts and reports, and on social media.
• We may edit, hide or remove a listing that is false, misleading, spam, illegal, or otherwise harmful, and we may close accounts that break these terms.

Paid plans and placements

• Pro, Featured and sector sponsorships renew monthly until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your dashboard. Cancelling stops the next charge, and you keep the plan until the end of the month you paid for. We do not refund partial months.
• The #1 spot lasts 7 days from its start time and is not refundable once it starts. If two businesses pay for the same week at the same moment, the second payment is refunded in full.
• Hourly posts cost $5 each and are labelled as sponsored. Posts do not change your position in listings. We may edit or decline a post that would be misleading. You can ask for a refund for any posts in your pack that have not been published yet.
• Quote request unlocks give you the customer's contact details. We do not guarantee that the customer will hire you.
• Data reports are digital downloads and are not refundable once downloaded.
• Prices are in US dollars and may change. A price change never affects something you have already paid for.

Paying for a plan, a post or a placement does not make us endorse your business. Links from paid listings are marked as sponsored.

Quote requests

If you ask for quotes, up to three nearby businesses may pay to see your contact details and contact you about your request. Map Your Sector is not a party to any work you agree with a business. Check a business yourself before you hire it.

Acceptable use

Do not scrape the site at a rate that harms it, send spam through it, post other people's information without permission, or use it to break the law. The public stats API is free to use with a link back to Map Your Sector.

Our content

The site design, maps, rankings, reports and posts belong to Map Your Sector. You may share links and short quotes with credit.

No warranty

Listings are provided by businesses, and we cannot check everything they say. The site is provided as it is, without any warranty. Rankings, growth figures and revenue numbers are for information only and are not financial advice.

Limit of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Changes and governing law

We may update these terms and will change the date at the top when we do. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California.
